A portfolio of securities managed by CJS Research executives has been monitored since its establshment in late 2000 by Marketocracy.com. The graph above, from the Marketocracy.com web site, and used with their kind permission, shows the results of this portfolio.
In summary, we have outperformed the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 Index, and the NASDAQ Average since inception.** The Marketocracy 100 has outperformed us, but according to information provided by Marketocracy, we are in the top 68.8% of funds measured in that competition.
These results have been achieved with a Beta (a statistical measure of the volatility of the portfolio) of only .60 compared to the 1.00 Beta of the indexes, and our R2 was .72. In other words, we are risk averse, yet our portfolio achieved superior returns with much less volatility risk.
Think about the implication of these statistics for a minute. The CJS Research dividend growth model portfolio has significantly outperformed both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 Index, but with less than 60% fluctuation in the valuation of your portfolio than if you had bought an Index Fund for those. For you, that translates to a higher rate of return with much less risk (fewer sleepless nights).
Better results with less risk. That's a great bargain!
**Past performance is no guarantee of future results. The results of our portfolio are calculated based on the performance of the entire recommended portfolio (in terms of both total number of holdings and the percentage of the portfolio's assets invested in each stock). If the investment composition of an investor's portfolio were different from the recommended portfolio, the results would be different.
