We at strategic-stock-investments are investors. We are not traders and because of hard lessons learned, neither are most of our clients. Many of our customers have been burned in the past by stock trading systems, and now realize that long term investing is a much more sound strategy for creating wealth. Those responsible for self directed IRAs and other plans, and investors with goals of secure retirement or funding college expenses for their children or grandchildren will appreciate the hard won professional expertise we offer at an extremely reasonable price.

STEVEN J. COOK, CFA

Steve Cook has 36 years experience in trading and analyzing both fixed income and equity securities, as well as in private placements of debt and equity. He started in the securities business at Scudder, Stevens & Clark, where he managed institutional portfolios including both debt and equity investments ranging from $500,000 to $100,000,000. He then spent several years at Bear, Stearns & Co. where he was Limited Partner in charge of Institutional Sales, and also founded and managed the Dallas Risk Arbitrage Desk. In 1989 Mr. Cook founded and managed an investment program for individuals, and Southwest Merchant Group, a merchant bank for small and middle market companies, where he managed well over $100,000,000 in debt and equity placements. He graduated Magna cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Oklahoma, and then received an MBA from Harvard Business School. In addition, Mr. Cook has completed certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst.

MICHAEL D. RIGGS

Mike is one of the senior investment bankers in the Southwest. He has been associated with the corporate finance groups of four regional investment banking firms, all of which were members of the New York Stock Exchange. Mike was a major shareholder, director and head of corporate finance at Schneider, Bernet & Hickman, Inc., and Institutional Equity Corporation, and was a senior member of the corporate finance department at Eppler, Guerin & Turner, Inc, and Rotan-Mosle, Inc. All of these firms were acquired by larger companies. Preferring the environment of smaller firms, he joined Steve Cook in Southwest Merchant Group, an NASD merchant banking firm in 1992. Out of that relationship the strategic-stock-investments newsletter was born. He has managed numerous public offerings for growing companies, and in one year was responsible for public offerings for three of the Inc. 100 fastest growing companies. Additionally he has advised his clients on acquisitions totaling over $1 billion. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and the Harvard Business School.
